Will You Ever Be Sorry?
Isaiah 1
October 5, 2025
Dr. Kelly B. Burton
The prophets are divided into two categories, major and minor. Isaiah is one of the four major prophets. He wrote during the reigns of four kings in the southern kingdom Judah. He is quoted in the New Testament close to seventy times, more than any other Old Testament prophet. Isaiah was a pre-exile prophet. He uses brilliant imagery and a rich vocabulary to communicate impending judgment as well as hope and deliverance for God’s remnant. We should learn from this first chapter to never fail to give God the loving obedience that He deserves.
Sermon Idea: Without repentance, scarlet sins will not become white as snow.
This chapter resembles a courtroom scene. God is the Plaintiff and Judge; we are the defendants.
