The Pursuing Presence of God
Psalm 139 Pt II

Dr. Kelly B. Burton
Welcome to Sermon Two from Psalm 139. Last week David taught us that God knows us perfectly and is with us constantly. In verses 13-24 we easily recognize that David is overwhelmed by God’s intimate involvement with his life. I picked up on a Meditation, a Prayer, and a Valiant request. God is intimately involved in the details of your life. Ask Him to test your faithfulness to Him.
139:13-18 A Meditation on God’s Sovereignty
In His love God marvelously plans the details of your life.
He uses everything you choose to fashion you into His will.
139:19-22 A Prayer for God’s Protection
This is what is called an imprecatory prayer. Be careful here!
David is expressing his loyalty to God.
139:23-24 A Valiant Request for God’s Testing
These tests are designed to prove your loyalty.
God’s tests reveal weaknesses in our faith that could lead to sin.
Main Idea: God is intimately involved in the details of your life. Ask Him to test your faithfulness.
