Hearts Turned Inside Out
Philippians 2:1-11
December 8, 2024
Dr. Kelly B. Burton
If you are just joining the Philippian study, last week we learned why Paul loved the Philippian church so much. In prison in Rome, Paul received a financial blessing from the church which encouraged him. He wrote back to thank them. He wanted the church to not worry about him. All the guards of the Roman prison had already heard the Gospel! Paul dared them to do the same in their adversities. Today, in chapter 2, we read about the journey Jesus made to earth to give His life for the church. By reminding them about the life, death, and exaltation of Jesus, Paul illustrated the attitude he wanted the church to have towards each other. Bow your mind to others and your knee to Jesus.
Sermon in a Sentence: Bow your mind to others and your knee to Jesus.
2:1-4 Church Unity Calls for the Crucifixion of Big Egos
Have the same mind and the same affections for one another.

2:5-11 There is A Dramatic Distance from Membership to Lordship
The Journey of Jesus: The Preexistence of Jesus, The Incarnation of Jesus, The Death of Jesus, The Exaltation of Jesus.
