All We Like Sheep
Isaiah 53:1-6
November 30, 2025
Dr. Kelly B. Burton
This is the greatest prophecy in the Bible. Isaiah wrote these words seven hundred and fifty years before Christ was born. Yet, he describes Him as if He was standing right in front him. We have arrived at the heart of Isaiah’s message. This chapter is perhaps the most penetrating of how costly our sins were for Christ: “He was pierced, He was crushed, because like sheep we have all gone our own way.” Only Jesus could have made this sweet exchange of His life for ours, our sins for His righteousness, His wounds for our peace.
Sermon Idea: Although no one paid attention to Him, Jesus shouldered the sins of the world.
53:1-3 The Servant’s Simple Appearance
He grew up under the careful watch of His Father.
He came on to the scene in a quiet and unassuming way.
53:4-6 The Servant’s Sweet Exchange
He satisfied the requirements of a Holy God.
He stood in for us on His cross.
