This unique scene in heaven envisions a dramatic pause before the storm of God’s judgment. The first three and a half years of the Tribulation Period have passed and there are three and a half more to come, more intense than the previous years. The pastor believes the Church has been raptured at this point, caught up by the Spirit. They are immensely grateful that they have been spared from God’s judgment, so they offer God their best worship.

Our text today informs us on why we worship God:
- Because the Lamb of God has been sacrificed redeeming those who believe 8:1
- Because Christ has made our prayers effective 8:2-4
- Because God promises to protect us and spare us from judgment 8:5
