Fundamentals for the Christ Follower

We are at the halfway point in Mark’s Gospel. For the first time, Jesus mentions His suffering, crucifixion, and resurrection in Mark 8. The disciples and the crowds were growing exponentially so it just makes sense that Jesus thins the crowds by explaining the fundamentals for the Christ follower. Considering how many new members and new Christians God brought us this year, allow me to echo Jesus’ teaching in my sermon today.
Sermon Main Idea: What is required of you as a follower of Christ? Deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Him.
Here are two particulars for Christ followers to remember:
31-33 God’s Plan Makes Sense from God’s Perspective
Jesus’ life is not about victory and worldly success but about

34-38 God’s Gospel Requires a Radical Rearrangement of Your Affections
The implications for following Christ:
