A Prayer from the Heart to the Heart
Ephesians 3:14-21
March 15, 2026
Dr. Kelly B. Burton
This prayer from Paul comes from his heart to ours. Thus, this prayer comes your pastor’s heart to yours. I believe it is important to follow the lead of the Holy Spirit and break for a Sunday from Mark to pray for our church. We are growing and welcoming more and more guests and new members. In order for this growth to continue, we must pray for each other. Paul even tells what we should pray for in 14-19. The three petitions make up the structure of the sermon. He ends with a doxology, a moment of praise that is quite astounding.
Main Idea: Praise God that He has let us into His family. Ask Him for the power to get along.
3:14-19 A Prayer for the Saints
There are three petitions for the church: 1. To be strengthened with power through His Spirit in your inner being. 2. To experientially comprehend the depth of Christ’s love. 3. To be filled with all the fulness of God.
3:20-21 Praise to the Father
Remember context! Paul is ecstatic at the power of the Gospel to bring Jew and Gentile together through Christ. Now they can walk arm in arm throughout the Temple courts!
