Let’s Go Find A Church

7 Sermons on the 7 Churches of Revelation

Lucious, Lucrative, Lukewarm Laodicea

Sunday, August 15, 2021

Dr. Kelly B. Burton

The last of the letters goes to lukewarm Laodicea. Evangelized by Epaphras from Colossae (Colossians 4:12-13), this church foolishly misread their blessings. Their lack of adversity led them to believe they were in good with God. Foolish people. They needed nothing from God because they were not living for God.

Sermon in a Sentence: If your life is not refreshing and renewing to others, regenerate some heat in your relationship with Christ today.

3:14-17 A Confident but Foolish Conclusion

Nice homes, new bass boats, and fat wallets can lead some to believe that God is pleased with their lives. That is a foolish conclusion.

3:18-19 The Divine Prescription for Overconfident Living

“It is a fact of life that the best athlete and the finest scholar receive the hardest and most demanding of training.”    Theologian, William Barclay-

3:20-21 A Gracious Invitation to Dinner and a Throne

“I stand at the door and knock” is not a verse to be used for evangelism! This is a letter to the church, those already saved who have evicted Jesus from their church.
