Certain cultural movements in the twentieth century have led many people to misinterpret God’s meaning of submission in marriage. Are pastor teachers supposed to skip over God’s teaching when we come to texts like chapter 3 of 1 Peter? I don’t think so. Submission is not a command to the Christian wife only, but also to the Christian husband and to the entire Church as well.
Main Idea: The Gospel works from the inside out. Be captivated by Christ and enrich your relationships.
3:1-6 The Wife’s Inner Beauty
Let him see what the Holy Spirit has done in your heart and win him to Jesus
Nowhere does Peter nor the NT teach that women are inferior to men.
3:7 The Husband’s Spiritual Warning
The wise husband will know his wife’s frustrations, goals, emotional needs and desires.
This knowledge will greatly enrich his marriage.
3:8-12 The Church’s Humble Calling
Be a blessing to each other.
We are all created in the image of God.
