Pardon Me Preacher
Acts 10, Part II
Sunday, May 30, 2021
Dr. Kelly B. Burton
Sermon in a Sentence: Since tremendous things happen when God prepares the preacher, let the people in the pew get themselves ready to hear God speak.
I see two faithful commitments that led to a personal encounter with the Holy Spirit:
- 10:23b-33 Cornelius’ eager commitment to hear God’s Word
He invites his relatives and close friends v24
‘We are eagerly waiting on what God has to say to us through you’ v33
- 10:34-43 Peter’s faithful commitment to preach the Gospel
He faithfully presents the necessary elements of the Gospel vv38-43
He underscores the importance of a personal encounter with Jesus v41
10:44-48 God’s gracious commitment to bless those who will believe
The Holy Spirit seems to say, ‘Pardon Me preacher, I will take it from here’ v44
First, they are saved, then they are baptized v47
