Like a surgeon, the apostle John takes the words God gave him and opens our heart to see if our love vessels are clogged. For the Jew the heart is the hub of all our decision making. In this sermon I will show you that it is only possible to belong to one of two families. In one family the Devil is the head, and his children are birthmarked by continuous sinning; they never made a clear break from sin. But God’s children are marked by life change and vigorous love.
Sermon in a Sentence: Vigorous love is the birthmark of a true child of God. Examine the evidence; do you make it your practice to love others with action?
7-10 Who Is Your Daddy?
Those with no life change belong to the Devil.
Others who sin less and less belong to God.
11-15 A Picture of The Hating Heart
We are not to be like Cain.
The one who hates is a murderer in his/her heart.
16-18 A Portrait of the Regenerated Heart
We have passed out of death into life.
Do not close up your heart to others in need.
