One of the Bible’s Great Prayers
Jonah 2
Sunday, June 30, 2024
Dr. Kelly B. Burton

In Jonah 1 everybody is hurling. God hurled a great storm off the Joppa coast. The pagan mariners hurled their cargo overboard to lighten the ship. Then Jonah is hurled over the side of the ship and the sea calms down. Safely inside the belly of a great fish, Jonah has three days and three nights to consider his rebellion. When he remembers God, he repents and is given another chance. This is a great prayer because we learn from Jonah that God is intimately involved with our lives and is committed to finish what He started in us.

Sermon in a Sentence: God is committed to finish what He started in you. Remember your commitment to God.

1:17-2:6 A Strange Place to Learn Theology

According to Jonah’s prayer what did he learn in the belly of a great fish?
