In Hot Pursuit of A Prophet
Jonah 1:1-16
Sunday, June 23, 2024
Dr. Kelly B. Burton
Jonah is found among the Minor Prophets. When we think of prophets, we usually think of a future prediction concerning God’s people. But Jonah recounts a story from his personal past that has significance for God’s people today. Some readers associate the story with a whale. But the “great fish” is meant to show the mercy of God to a rebellious prophet. Positioned inside the great fish Jonah has a remarkable view of God’s grace. Today I want to show you that God cooperates with all our decisions to direct them to fulfill His purposes. Jonah needed to obey God’s commands even the ones he didn’t like.
