Christ, Our Holy Place
Hebrews 9:11-14, 23-28
Sunday, November 6, 2022
Dr. Kelly B. Burton
The aim of the writer to the Hebrew Christians is to show how much greater Jesus is than all the angels, all the prophets, and all the priests. This is the attitude we should embrace heading into Christmas and into all of life. In chapter 9, I see the past, present, and future work of Jesus that should give us a greater sense of security in our salvation. Christ is our holy place!
Sermon in a Sentence: We desperately need Jesus. Since our sins contaminate the presence of God, keep coming to Christ who makes us clean.
Chapter 9 bolsters our assurance by the past, present, and future work of Jesus:
Christ Secured our Salvation 9:12
Christ Appears Face to Face with God on Our Behalf 9:24
Christ Will Return to Rescue Us 9:28
