We Are All Here to Hear
Acts 10:34-48
Sunday, June 25, 2023
Dr. Kelly B. Burton
Chapter 10 is an epic chapter in Acts. The Gospel crashes through ethnic barriers into Caesarea welcoming all who will respond to God in faith. These verses feature a sermonette from Peter. His audience is Cornelius, a non-Jewish military man in charge of 600 soldiers in Caesarea. By all appearances he is a spiritual man, yet he is without the Holy Spirit. God answered Cornelius’ desire to learn more about Jesus. God shows no favoritism. He accepts everyone who fears Him and does what is right.
Sermon in a Sentence: God has a determined love for everyone. He orchestrates everything so that we can know Him and be saved.
Peter’s sermonette contains three particulars about Jesus:
1. The Works of Jesus 10:37-39a
Only God could do these works!
2. The Death of Jesus 10:39b
“They hung Him on a tree.”
3. The Resurrection of Jesus 10:40-43
He is the One appointed by God to judge the living and the dead.
