Good Works for the Glory of Christ
Paul’s Letter to Titus
Sunday, October 17, 2021
Dr. Kelly B. Burton
Without a doubt, the letter from Paul to Titus provides the framework of how structure leadership. But it is certainly more than that. Over the years I have sadly missed all the mentions of good works in this epistle. The letter passionately explains to the church that we have been set free from sin to serve God and those in our community.
Sermon in A Sentence: Since God has determined where we live be ready for good works.
Paul conveys to Titus two Indicatives (that which is true) and two Imperatives (that which the Church is to do):
2:1-4 Sound Teaching Sets the Agenda for Good Works
2:7-8 Start Coming to Grips with Your Outward Calling
2:11-14 Saving Faith Manifests Itself in Good Works
3:1-5 Surrender Your Pride and Be Courteous to Everyone
¨ Will you be willing to start coming to grips with your outward calling today?
¨ Will you surrender your pride and serve everyone in your community regardless of how they are different from you?
